On November 29, 2007 at 8pm, the special guest at Cue-up will be, Christopher Pavsek.
Christopher Pavsek is an indepdendent film- and videomaker and Assistant Professor of Film in the School for Contemporary Arts at Simon Fraser University where he teaches film studies and film theory. His films include "Welcome to the New World Order, AIDS in Vietnam" (2000), about the AIDS epidemic and economic liberalization in Vietnam; "The One and All" (2002), about patriotism in the USA after 9-11; and "To Those Born After" (2005), an experimental documentary inspired by the poem of the same title by Bertolt Brecht. He is also currently working on two films. "The Hands of Men" is about human relationships to nature and "What Remains to Be Seen" will be an experimental documentary about the legacies of the current Bush administration. He is also a film scholar and has published on European cinema and critical theory and is currently working on a book about the German filmmaker and theorist Alexander Kluge.
As usual, the guest presentation will be followed by an open-screening and discussion opportunity. If you want to present your new work or work in progress, come at 7:30 to get cued-up (first come, first serve).
